What About Water Intake For Fitness?

Hello,
Today I would like to touch on the subject of water in your fitness regime. I have written about supplements and foods you should eat, and proteins but I am now going to touch on water. It is very important to take in enough water, but is often overlooked in today's world of energy drinks and such.
Did you know that your body is almost 80% water? I sure didn't until recently. Most people know that a lack of water causes dehydration in your body, but did you know that it can cause bad headaches, sore muscles, muscle cramping, and slow your metabolism? Slowing the metabolism will work against everything you are trying to do in your fitness program.
Dehydration will almost virtually stop your fat burning. On top of that, when you lack enough water it makes you thirsty which will mimic, in your mind and body, hunger. So when you are really thirsty, you think you are hungry, and eat more food. Now, you are taking in food your body doesn't need and also slowing your metabolism or fat burning. That, folks, is called a double edged sword.
The daily water needs of a normal person is between 6-8 glasses of water, which is almost the equivalent of a 2 liter bottle of soda. You are not a normal person. You are working out hard, lifting weights, doing your cardio, and taking your supplements like you should. Your body will require quite a bit more water to keep it rolling, so to speak.
Now, if you are eating your daily amount of raw fruits and vegetables, you are getting some water there. There is a lot of water in raw fruits and vegetables. It would be quite hard to actually drink that many glasses of water. you would spend a lot of your workout time in the mens room. Don't be fooled into thinking that you drink coffee so you get water there. You don't. Coffee actually pulls more water from your system. That is a proven fact.
Here are some factors that will help you determine what amount of water daily is right for you:
Is it hot out or hot where you work out? If so, you will require more water because you will sweat more when it is hot. Drink a liter before your workout and keep adding to it a bit during your workout especially if you are sweating more than you normally do.
If you are exercising particularly hard on certain days, you will need more water.
If you are not eating properly, like raw vegetables and fruits, you will need more water.
If you are taking supplements like you should be, you will require more water, and the same holds true for certain medications. You should ask the prescribing physician if the drug will leach water out of your system.
If you have been sick where you vomited or the other end a lot, this will dehydrate you fast. You will need more water before you resume your workout routines.
Just remember, each individual will require different amounts of water. Everybody usually have requirements between 2 and 4 liters a day. I stay at about 3 to be safe. The benefits will be noticed in your weight loss and fat loss, your muscles growing and staying that way, your overall energy, and your mental edge as well. Lack of water or dehydration will affect so many areas of your fitness routines. It is bad enough for a regular person but doubly bad for a workout demon like yourself.
