Be aware that tinned foods often contain a lot of extra salt. Consuming all this extra salt can easily push you over the recommended maximum daily sodium intake. Excess sodium can put you at risk for hypertension and heart disease. Read nutrition labels carefully to keep track of your salt intake. Many foods are packed in brine to keep them fresh, but brine contains high amounts of sodium so they should be limited.

A daily vitamin is an easy way to ensure your body gets everything it needs every day. You will want to focus on eating healthful,nutritious foods; however, taking a good multi-vitamin will ensure that you get sound, balanced nutrition.

You can prepare a healthier version of your favorite dishes by replacing ground beef with ground turkey. Ground turkey has far less fat and calories. Just make sure you are purchasing ground turkey breast, as dark meat turkey is only slightly different than beef. Check the labels of the meats you purchase to make sure you are getting the meats with the lowest amount of fat.

It is wise to keep protein bars close at hand if when you are on the go. If you have been in an airport recently, you might have noted that a good meal is a little hard to find. You are either busy going through security, sitting around for boarding to start or stuck on a flight with no meals served. Having a meal bar on hand can help you fill in the gaps while you are traveling.
