By Leslie Ball

Trans fat is a bad fat that has been proven by medical physicians to be terrible for anybody's well being. The fats occur naturally in some foods such as meat. Despite this, several foodstuff we eat today have high cholesterol levels. Manufacturers normally use hydrogenated cooking oil that congeals when under room temperature. It is bad for your heart and health since it raises the bad levels of cholesterol but reduces the good levels of cholesterol. Moreover, these congealed oils last for a longer time span and hence most restaurants employ it in their deep frying machines because constant changing of oils is not required and it saves them money. We have listed some of the trans fat foods to avoid:

Fried foodstuffs like fries and chicken are known to contain high cholesterol. They pick the fat from the oil used to deep fry them. Some dietitians suggest that people should try sauteing or pan frying rather than deep frying. It is also advisable to use liquid cooking oils such as olive oil that have the right amount of cholesterol.

Pies and pie crusts also contain the notorious hydrogenated oil. They are baked foods that have high cholesterol content. And most people love eating pies; they are therefore at high risk of getting diseases that are related to the high content of fat in the body.

Snacks such as microwave popcorn also have this trans fat. Even though popcorn are always considered to be healthy, they can at times contain the dangerous substance. They are made with lots of salt and oils that have solidified. And since many people are warming up to the microwave popcorn, heart diseases are significantly increasing. The toppings that come with the packaged popcorn can also contain the harmful substance.

Doughnuts are also delicacies that have high cholesterol but very sweet. The bad thing about them is that they only produced through deep frying using hydrogenated oils. In the place of doughnuts, you can settle for brain muffin, whole grain toasts, and English muffins that will give you a healthy heart.

Frozen foods are other foods that have this hazardous substance. Although they might have good nutrients, they may be harmful; it is, therefore, imperative to check food package levels for cholesterol amount. Another issue to consider is the food is cooked. It should be prepared using the oils like olive oil.

Dessert mixes such as cakes and pancakes may always be convenient to us, but they may have high contents of bad cholesterol. Some of the ingredients that manufacturers utilize in making these mixes usually contain trans fats that lead to heart diseases. So as to avoid contracting heart illnesses, you can consider the old approach of making cakes; mixing the right ingredients from scratch by yourself. Moreover, keep in mind that you have to use healthy vegetable oils and in place of frosting, you can opt for powdered sugar.

Lastly, remember constantly to check the labels of packaged foods that describe the concentration of ingredients used. Look at the percentages of cholesterol used and if you find that it is high, avoid it. Doing this will protect your heart from diseases and give you a healthy lifestyle.
