Lose Weight With Appetite Suppressing Foods

Although sometimes difficult to carry out, the theory behind losing weight is rather simple-- burn more calories than you take in. It is estimated that each 3500 calories represents one pound of body fat. To lose one pound a week, for example, you must eat 500 calories less per day than you are currently eating. Sadly, for the vast majority of people this is easier said than done.

The fact is that the bodies usually do not require too many calories to live. In fact, scientists have discovered that the human body can go two to three weeks without food before it dies. Exactly what makes slimming down difficult, on the other hand, is the fact that our bodies are likely to fool us into feeling that we're hungry, despite the fact that we are having around lots of extra body fat which could be digested into energy.

Don't get me wrong -- desire for food does serve a purpose. With an ideal-weight woman / man, appetite stands out as the signal to take in more extra calories, as they will very shortly be needed to continue essential life functions. An overweight woman or man doesn't always might need all these calories, though, and the hunger only tricks us into thinking that we do.

Fortunately, certain foods we eat can actually suppress the appetite, make us feel fuller longer and, as a result, cause us to eat less.

Slim Down by eating Appetite Curbing Foods

As a general rule, foods high in fiber will make you feel fuller longer because their bulkiness will stretch the stomach and trigger the body's appetite suppression system. Apples, for example, are a great example of a fiber-rich food that makes us feel full. Oatmeal is also full of fiber and, even though it contains carbohydrates, those "good" carbs will help you feel less hungry. Nuts and seeks, like pine nuts and flax seeds, also trick the body into thinking we are fuller than we really are.

Although not necessarily a "food", simply drinking a full glass of water prior to a meal will suppress the appetite, take up room and result in a lower caloric intake. This is also true for green tea herb, because of the fact that it stimulates the production of a hormone liable for appetite suppression and is also believed to even boost the metabolic process.

And also, last of all, folks having a sweet tooth will be pleased to discover that dark chocolate is actually a dieting aid because bitterness serves as a all-natural hunger suppressor.
